What is Koinonia?
Well, Koinonia is a greek word for fellowship. That’s what we’re all about: fellowship with God, and fellowship with each other. We are a Christian college fellowship group at SFSU, we “do” life together, learn more about ourselves, and figure out how God fits into all of this!
College is a fun and exciting time to build life-long friendships and to start thinking about life. We hope that you will check out Koinonia and join us as we journey through life together.

Want more details about Koinonia at SFSU? Here’s a breakdown of what we do:
:: Seeking God ::
“Who is God? What does He want? What role, if any, does He play in my life? What does the Bible say about my life?” Whether you’re actively seeking God or just wrestling with some tough questions, we treat these issues seriously. At Koinonia, we help everyone explore these questions through small groups where people share and discuss who God is, Bible Studies where God is made relevant to our lives, and courses on the basics of Christianity. Many of us attend Gracepoint together, which is a church located in the East Bay, led by Pastor Ed Kang and his wife, Kelly Kang. We encourage you to discover more about Gracepoint with us!
:: Making Lifelong Friends ::
Starting from your first semester at SFSU all the way through years out of college, the friends you make here are friends for life. Through small group dinners or large group outings, we constantly want to foster relationships that are genuine, deep, and trusting. Here at Koinonia, we lower our barriers in order to share in each other’s lives, both in the good times and bad. That’s what “fellowship” is all about.
:: Having fun ::
What’s a fellowship without hanging out and having fun? Join us for: various outings, game nights, potlucks, camping trips, and just hanging out in each other’s homes. Oh, and what’s fellowship without good food? Not only do we enjoy eating together but as you hang out with us, you’ll learn how to cook up a storm and feed others as well!
